Telstra to splurge in Asia and on footy
Telstra could spend up to $5 billion on acquisitions in high-growth Asia markets.
The Australian Financial Review reports Telstra plans to take stakes in regional internet
businesses and data companies before floating them.
Meanwhile the Australian reported Telstra is bidding for the pay TV and internet rights
to Australian Rules football.
The move was part of a strategy to acquire content for Telstra's growing online and
new media initiatives.
The AFL is said to be seking as much as $100 million annually for the rights.
