NSW:Sydney residents to be driven batty

Environmentalists say residents of Eastern Sydney are about to driven batty .. after
a court dismissed their 11th-hour bid to stop the eviction of thousands of flying foxes
from Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens.

Animal advocacy group Bat Advocacy had appealed to stop the relocation of up to 22
thousand grey-headed flying foxes.

But their appeal's been dismissed today and the flying foxes are due to be dispersed
with loud industrial noise on May 1.

STORM STANFORD from Bat Advocacy says she's "extremely disappointed".

She says the community who live around the garden and to the east of the gardens in
Kings Cross and Potts Point can expect some new neighbours .. as there isn't any further
court action available to the group.
